Birdimus and Tokidoki meet!   Leave a comment

I am so excited writing this! Simone Legno is one of my inspirations. I discovered him quite by accident only last year, and I felt very connected to a person at a very high level of what I was trying to. At the Nooka launch party during Tokyo Design Week, I had a chance to meet him, rap with him about life and design, and big him up! This was a truly amazing moment for me.

I checked out some very cool presentations at the Spanish Embassy during design week 2010. Video coming soon! The presentations were in Spanish and Japanese. I guess I remember a lot more Spanish that I realized!

Nihon Terebi TV Shoot 日本テレビイベント!   3 comments

Junko was the 2002 Dancehall queen winner in Jamaica. This might not sound like much, but Junko is Japanese, and she flew all the way to Jamaica back then and against all the odds (or so people thought) was crowned the first Japanese dancehall queen of Jamaica. Nihon Terebi (Japan TV) was recording a small feature on her and needed some talent to act as Jamaicans in a re-enactment of her first time in Jamaica. Yours truly was the MC and the spot will be aired on October 8th. I had the opportunity to go to her birthday party last year when I was living in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka.  Glasses, Watch and Belt by Nooka. Jeans by Gimme Richie, Mad A Road t-shirt by Marcus Bird.

NightBomb! International Party!   Leave a comment

I’ve never been a bunny rabbit before, and it feels cool. The Japanese say labbit. Wearing bunny ears is part of the gig i’m doing with Nightbomb! An event management company here in Tokyo.

They liked my youtube videos and asked me to collaborate with them by shooting some video. The event was pretty interesting, with a nice mix of international people and locals chit-chatting, watching performances and drinking all you want for two hours. It was really a Nightbomb! Event. Youtube video coming soon!

HIMAWARI project: Robot Sunflower   Leave a comment

I had the opportunity to check out a very cool exhibit in Tokyo Midtown two months ago it was entitled the “Himawari project”, and it is a collaborative effort between Yoshikawa Kogyo Company and Kyushuu University. The sunflower reacts to natural light. You can read a detailed review here in both English and Japanese. I feel like I need to run for the hills when these things start walking and eating everybody!
