In March 2009, on the day of his birthday, Marcus Bird set out to the far east, a place he had never been. On the plane, he wondered what it would be like to travel to Japan, that fabled land of technology, anime and so much more. Jamaican in Japan is a collection of his thoughts and experiences in the written form, complete with pictures. In the summer of 2009, he started the web series “Marcus Bird: Jamaican in Japan” after having an opportunity to go on tour with legendary reggae artiste Maxi Priest.
